Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Little did Alienore think when she escaped becoming the Butcher’s bride that she would become his protege man-at-arms instead. He is not considered to be such a great catch by the young maidens of England and France.

The heroine got her faced rubbed in her own vomit, beat constantly, and the hero blew his nose into his sleeve. Alienore and Colin became quite endearing as they realized their feelings for each other-with some swaying going on for good measure. A quick, light read. I felt it could have been shorter, but I still enjoyed it and want it on my keeper shelf.

Here is an overview of what happens: Now, I’ll be honest, this book isn’t really my style.

From This Moment On

Just retribution for all the nasty tricks he had played on her in the past. Have no idea how it got there since, while the heroine was disguised as a boy and inadvertently began training as a knight with the hero, she had zero skills or interest in doing so. Once everyone knows who is who, it is very sweet to watch them fall in love and come together against their enemies. I was really excited about this book after reading Gillian and Christopher’s story.

After returning to the mainland, her writing gave way to training in classical music frlm Clinton, who had been felled with momenh, eaten by fish and sent tumbling off cars, was put aside for operatic heroes in tights.

It just seemed like a stupid and illogical thing to do when the truth would have saved all of them many troubles, especially the most stupid thing of all, the trip to France. She isn’t much good with a sword, but good at keeping watch and eventually she is tasked with escorting a daughter of the house she is now working for, to her betrothed – The Butcher of Berkamshire.

He has a tender side, it’s just buried beneath all his gruff exterior.

He is fierce, merciless, not that great to look at, and, generally, mannerless but it should be noted, not unchivalrous. I just wish there had been more growth between the characters and I wish Ali would have gotten a spine, particularly in the scene where she is to fight with Colin.

It’s sweet and endearing and I enjoyed mpment very much. Alienore has no desire to become the Butcher’s unfortunate wife-victim just to save evil stepmom some money, so she binds her breasts, steals her brothers’ armor, spurs, sword, and horse, and escapes. In fact, she was quite pathetic and cowardly and had no other abilities to make her interesting lynb desirable at all – not good with any weapon, couldn’t cook, couldn’t heal, wasn’t skilled at managing household, didn’t know how to embroider, absolutely ZERO redeeming qualities.

Alienore has a cruel stepmother. Yet his father keeps foisting prospects on him.

If this book were a movie, it would be a romantic comedy. Trivia About From This Moment Sep 04, Christy Stewart rated it liked it Shelves: Refresh and try again. While there are similarities in the style …light humor, strong fighters, and romance, this lacked the charming quality that I enjoyed so much in mkment Nine Kingdom series. They beg their fathers and guardians and they fake ailments.

And his vulnerabilities made him forgiveable. I did enjoy the comments Kurland had for Sibyl and her constant need for food! Fans of humorous medieval romance with unlikely hero. His father is now willing to forego a dowry if any noble family will but send their daughter to wed the Butcher.

When she finds out that she has been engaged to Colin of Berkhamshire, a man with the fiercest of reputations, she knows her stepmother has set it up so that she will be miserable.

In this sweeping, emotional love story, Lynn Kurland takes us back to the thirteenth century–and all the passion and magnificence of medieval England Not that he isn’t better off without a wife – not like he could find one who’d prefer practicing swordfights over gowns and manners. So he wooed her the only way he knows how – by polishing and thid all of her weapons. She feels safe for the first time in years and finally starts to see what all we readers knew about Colin: Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.

Why did he fhis this girl’s secret – who was basically a stranger to him – when Colin was his friend of many years? This was not her best effort. But, the playground became more oft annoying than fun: Also, Alienore’s inability to just speak up for herself and tell the truth was just so frustrating!

A match made in heaven, that’s for sure I don’t normally read period romance novels, and the language was difficult for me to connect too.
