Participating in international conferences and seminars and discussing this issue with my colleagues and friends from the neighbouring countries, in particular Montenegro and Slovenia, I learned that they too lacked suitable straightforward teaching materials and tools. Tourism and hospitality management [Internet].
In order to gain insight into the present state and method of managing the processes of developing human resources, we have conducted a survey among fifty personnel managers in hospitality and tourist firms. The intention of this research was to establish what steps are firms in tourism undertaking in the domain of personnel development.
My intention is not to teach the students how to become good seamen or businessmen but to improve their language skills, which would make it possible for them to excel in their respective maritime fields.
These developments and other social changes indicate that firms in the tourist industry have to do some rethinking, and sometimes modify their strategy and system of management of resources and work processes.
It also endeavors to plan a contemporary system of personnel management and personnel development processes in tourism.
PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT IN TOURISM
The idea for creating this coursebook was encouraged and supported by the University College of Inspection and Personnel Management in Maritime Affairs in Split and the Faculty of Mediterranean Business Studies in Tivat within the Erasmus cooperation between the two institutions.
Tourism and hospitality management, 6 kadrovsko, Efforts were also made to gather information regarding the current situation of personnel activities in the tourist economy of Croatia.
The results and main characteristics of the mentioned gathering of information are presented in this paper. It is expected that the coursebook will comply not only with the Croatian higher education programs, but also with the Maritime English kadrivski designed in Montenegro and Slovenia, the countries that share similar maritime tradition, shipping experience, coastal features, weather patterns and development issues.
Technical aspects of this coursebook, in this case, mainly serve the purpose of language acquisition.
