Darren seemed a little scared of most things and naturally a coward even if rl wanted to do something he didn’t well until he made the decision to become a half vampire to save his best friend. For once we have a main character whose family life isn’t messed up or not there. Nothing complicated, nothing fancy. It had some familiar conventions, eel the manner in which a person becomes a vampire was something I haven’t read anything like before.

I was really impressed that Darren Shan the author was fearless enough to incorporate this aspect into a children’s book. I like Darren Shan as the narrator, he’s a likeable character.

I even saw a jock at my school reading them, which is quite surprising. In real life, vacuum cleaners kill spiders. I think it’s because I read Lord Loss first, which was about a teenager, but I feel was written in a way that seemed more mature and advanced enough that an adult reader didn’t even notice that it was for children. This book one of the series does not only demonstrate the ordinary school boy with a normal life but extended beyond to vampirism and his break of friendship by misunderstandings.

Darren saw first literary success at age 15, as a runner-up in a television script-writing competition with a dark comedy titled A Day in the Morgue. Guess the kids don’t need to know about that or any of the other parts of burying a body?

The descriptions of the freak show are somewhat interesting, but it’s not something I find that exciting. Even though this series is obviously meant for young people, I currently age 32 found many aspects of this book to be enjoyable and entertaining.

Younger vampire story readers and older ones who enjoy kid’s books. And it is epic. Tunnels of Blood Book Four: Hunters of the Dusk. I thought Darren had a very good relationship with his family, and I really liked how he was so close and loving with his younger sister, Annie.

I am not sorry I read it, just sorry the book didn’t live up to my expectations.

If you read the books, I’d recommend waiting at least years prior to watching the movie. He does not only create a story that reveals a story behind it. Not even the part where the “freaks” were described could be considered scary.
